Menopause and Mind Blog

Menopause and Mind invite would like to invite posts for our blog relating to menopause and mental health, creativity, and arts. We welcome creative responses to menopause, such as paintings, drawings, prose, short stories, video, sound, photography or other visual art. This is a very open call, and your blog entry can be personal reflections, political engagements or sheer expression. We recommend that written pieces are no longer than 800 words.

All work published will be under a creative commons license, and all copyright remains with the creator. If you are interested in writing a blog, please submit your idea or completed blog post to climacteric@magneticideals.org. Please note we can not guarantee that we can publish everything we receive.

We particularly welcome engagement from marginalised groups as we recognise that the mainstream narrative of menopause does not include everyone and discriminates and excludes many marginalised voices, including (not exhaustively) LGBTQIA+, trans voices, minority ethnic voices and neuro and physically diverse groups. We also recognise that menopause happens at many ages, and impacts on those experiencing POI (Premature Ovarian Insufficiency) and surgical menopause can be particularly challenging. There is a lack of information of the impact of other conditions such as endometriosis on menopause due to lack of high quality research. We also recognise the negative impact that adverse childhood experiences and trauma have during menopause.

Menopause and Mind embrace menodiversity and welcomes any person experiencing menopausal symptoms from any background. We are open to feedback and to improve our sessions, and to ensuring that we are using inclusive language and approaches. We support the aims of the Menopause Inclusion Collective
